Meet The Face Behind Baystate Mold Advisors

Baystate Mold Advisors   |

I’m Al Hall, the owners of Baystate Mold Advisors.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

Initially, when I started working, I’d launched my career in the self-employed business as a medical facility cleaning company working at night. In 2003, my wife’s uncle asked me if I wanted to learn basement waterproofing and join his company. By taking up this offer, my wife and I would be working on the same schedule, so I gave it a shot, and the rest was history.

When I first tried out my new job, I liked the diagnostic part of my work. Figuring out what went wrong and the best way to fix it required me to be creative and think on my feet. In 2004, we formed a partnership and added mold work to our services in 2008. When my business partner retired at the end of 2015, I reorganized and opened up the business focusing on mold inspections and indoor air quality testing in January 2016 as Baystate Mold Advisors from Baystate Basement Solutions.

What led me to focus mainly on mold issues was market trends. In 2007, I was the partner owner of our waterproofing business, Baystate Basement Solutions. For quite some time, we saw a lot of wet basements with mold, and the problems caused by mold were just getting big in the news. As a result, we thought it would be a good fit for us to add mold removal services to the business.

We believed that including this service would enable us to reach out to more clients like building owners to help them increase the safety of their property. To provide them with the best mold removal services in Brockton and Cohasset, MA, we sought out NORMI (The National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors) in 2008, and we got certified as mold inspectors and remediators. By 2012, I went back to NORMI and got certified as a mold assessor to add to my skills and further enhance the services we offered.

Since 2016, Baystate Mold Advisors has continued to be at the forefront of the mold industry. To keep our clients happy, we offer up to a thirty-five-year warranty on our work. We have green options such as botanicals to kill mold and even a mold eating enzyme application that continues to hunt for mold for up to two years after use.

Besides bringing my clients satisfying results, I also enjoy determining what causes the mold in specific regions of a house or building and finding a way to prevent it from coming back. Apart from this, the most rewarding aspect of this business is seeing happy building owners who know that their property is safe again from microbial contamination.

When we work on a mold infestation project, we do everything we can to safely do the job correctly and honestly. That way, our clients are guaranteed satisfaction for several years.

Honesty is the only policy we have, and we uphold it during every project. While assessing a property with mold, we conduct thorough investigations and spare no detail when informing our clients about the extent of their mold situation. Based on what we find, we then come up with real solutions that deliver permanent results, not bandaids. Our solutions are designed with a belt and suspenders approach. Yes, it costs a little more, but it ensures that the job is done effectively and safely. That way, we can make your clients’ lives a little easier.

In the last few years, we have had many successes, but what we really find fulfilling are the challenging projects that were tough to diagnose. In fact, when we think back to the projects that we handled in the past, we often remember this one case where a client of ours was buying a home in Plymouth. The client had the place inspected in June, and the house was given a clean bill of health after the inspection.

The new homeowner moved in that month, but unfortunately, by August, she discovered mold in her basement even though she had a dehumidifier operating down there. She called me up to take a look at the problem. After assessing it and asking her a few questions, I realized that the house, which was used as a display home for the developer for years, had two active leaks. The leaks occurred only when it rained out, and as a result, it had gone undiscovered. The rainwater would get trapped in the basement, and the humidity would go up, and the mold would flourish. No one noticed the mold simply because they weren’t trained to look for it. Fortunately, we did and were quick to provide an appropriate remedy.

I enjoy the challenges that my work offers as I get to think outside of the box and take on new approaches and methods to solve the situation.

When I’m not at work, my wife and I engage in volunteer work for the public. We don’t like to draw attention to ourselves in this work so that we won’t mention specifics. Besides helping out others, I also like to spend time with my family during my free time.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
